Well done Blizzard, Well done! (no this isn’t sarcasm)

For those of you who are not so great at keeping up on the latest haps, even tho it’s all done for you thanks to MMO, Ensidia has finally gotten what they deserve. They were stripped of their achievements, titles, and loot for their “World First LK kill”. Now to all of the fanboys out there that live in some sort of fantasy world with the mindset of … if I worship them just hard enough maybe they’ll invite me to their guild teehee. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE just go shoot yourself. You’ll be doing us all a favor. Chances are you’re an idiot outside of WoW and are the type of person who has an excuse for everything… most likely it’s never your fault. I wish so badly that Blizzard had done this long ago because let’s be realistic here, it was brought out in the open AGES ago that Ensidia exploits all the time. Yes the Lich King is an epic saga in WoW but it shouldn’t have been this one encounter that got Blizzard pressing their ban buttons. So now I wish to share something with you that was posted on MMO. No, I do not have the link to the thread on the site you will have to find it yourself but I believe this to be the honest to God truth. This was sent to me in an e-mail from my boyfriend and he was sent this by his brother… please pay close attention to the text you are about to read…

The Ensidia Incident Explained« on: February 05, 2010, 12:06:01 am »
This post is made after thinking very hard and against the wishes of some of my closest friends.
This letter also represent me saying my peace before my road ahead as a gamer.
Before I begin let me attest that I will not be reading replies to it, will not be answering questions or hate replies, as a matter of fact this is why this post came into fruition.
In regards to “the incident” Ensidia was involved in, first and foremost let me assure you that we are not cheaters, not in the sense most people are referring to us.
During the LK fight we noticed something was different then the other 3 tries. No we did not power level engineering for the fight, we first noticed something was wrong right then and there. I was too focused on my role to notice what was happening, in retrospect, it happened so fast,  I simply heard two or three people saying in vent  ”Whoa, did you see that?” followed by our raid leader stating “Whatever you did just now, do it again next phase.” This happened in fraps as well as in two or three raid warnings. This is why the fraps will never be released unless some serious editing and music background is added, one member stated we should just voice over again and reenact the whole fight without the mentioning of this glitch and edit the raid warning frame by frame. He was told not to worry about it. Let me assure you this mentality is only present in the corrupt few found in most large and elite organizations.
We had no idea at first that the saronite bombs were the culprit, as a matter of fact three or four people thought they were responsible for the “glitch”, thinking whatever action they took was causing the glitch, including the rogue in question.
You have to understand what its like to be in a guild capable of a world first, this would have been my first “world first” and it was just too overwhelming. When the adrenaline is pumping the last thing on your mind is “Is what were doing right?” trust me when I say this, the fight is so busy with so many mechanics to worry about.
You will never understand the level of competition WHITHIN ENSIDIA ITSELF between the healers, DPS and tanking. There is another player (same class and role as me) who consistently boasts about how he is Ensidias #1 (his class) and he wasnt present at the LK kill, so in my mind I was thinking “This is it, this will finally shut him up.”
So for those who are under the impression that this “incident” was thought out and planned…it was not, believe me.
Now as to why Im making this post.
I know what the consequences are and honestly, most of us think a 72 hour ban is a joke, some were even laughing about it at our vent meeting. Three days is a good time to go over the freaps (yes there was one and it will never be released, believe me), review healing and DPS rotations, go over the reports etc.
I disagree. I think the shame alone and the reputation of Ensidias players will be the real punishment. to some Im dreading logging on and reading /2 or getting the tells about this event, and im not the only one.
As I stated above, my plans are to do a name/server change and start over, maybe find another  elite guild and work my way in, I have no animosity towards Ensidia, I just dont want to deal with the tells and /2.
I cant say Im ashamed tho some are, as I stated before, this was NOT premeditated, it just happened. Ive seen posts saying we should have wiped wwhen we saw something was wrong and maybe we should have, but I ask that everyone do a bit of soul searching and see if you would wipe and have your whole guild hating you.
I will not be reading the replies to this, nor will I want to talk about it in game with anyone, I just want this to go away.
Several members already stated they will do the same thing, not due to this event but due to the fact of how our guild handled it.
Some of us asked that an official statement be made by our leaders and to just “own up to it”, but this idea was quickly shut down. All I can say at this point is ask for the gaming community apology for my involvement and my involvement only
I know some will say Im a troll, others that the letter is fake, and some that this isnt how it happened and that this is a cover up. I dont care, and will not be looking back.
This is the viewpoint of the LK “incident” from one participant and not of Ensidia as a guild.
Anonymous. (duh)

Dear soon to be ex-Ensidia member. You my friend deserve a medal. It took some real balls to come out like past people have and I wish their were more people like you in the game.

I wish to give a giant congrats to the people who actually deserve the World First… Job well done Paragon! I hope to see you continuing with this into heroic mode and putting Ensidia in it’s place. My hat is off to you -Tar

My addiction, it’s time to come clean.

Okay gamers, the vast majority of us love it. It keeps us going while we work out our fingers. Have you figured it out yet? Well…  if you guessed caffeine then you are correct! Where do we get? From soda of course! Some companies even target us with their advertising.

Sadly soda is a big problem for me. It’s caused some nasty problems after years and years of drinking it. Things like… weight gain, sensitive teeth, frequent dehydration, frequent headaches, muscle pains, frequent nausea, and I honestly believe it’s made my bones a bit weaker. If you think I’m a bit crazy then please look this information up for yourself because it is all common symptoms of long term heavy soda drinkers. Yes I know you can stop anything at any time if you are a strong enough person and you really want to. No I am not blaming anyone but myself. I know some of you are going to read this and think this is the biggest bunch of crock I’ve ever read. Let me ask you this tho, do you ever find yourself craving your favorite soda? Are you able to taste it in your mouth you want it so bad?

It may just be a can of liquid sugar and empty calories but man is it a nasty one. The worst part is once you’ve become so used to the caffeine intake etc you’ll find yourself going through withdrawal’s when you stop. Trust me, I know. I’ve tried time and time again to go cold turkey. When they didn’t work I tried to slowly ween myself off of it. I do great for about two weeks and then bam, the cravings hit. I will suck down that long gone friend like there’s no tomorrow. Altho my thirst is still there that feeling of relief comes. You know when something feels so good you take a big sigh and kind of roll your eyes in your head? Yeah… that’s exactly what it is.

So I’ve decided that it’s finally time to try my hardest to kick it. I am not going to go cold turkey because I know how well that has worked before, however. I’m going to try to limit myself to one can a day or every other day. Slowly start that way. So please cross your fingers for me and I hope that some of you will join me in this fight =D! I’ll be sure to keep you all updated on this and of course all the other things going on as well. So until next time my lovely readers… keep on gaming!  -Tar

Another quick update

It’s been right under a week since I left Frostmourne and moved to Arygos. Things are going pretty good so far. Everyone in my new guild is extremely friendly and helpful. I seem to get along with everyone I’ve come into contact with. With the start of a new raid week coming, I have my fingers crossed that they’ll be thinking of bringing me in for something other than a couple of attempts on a new boss. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind being brought in for attempts on something at all. I just want to have more opportunities to prove myself to them is all.
Right now the only down side to this whole thing is I have no idea what they’re thinking. I really would love to hear someone tell me “Hey, we think you’re doing really great” or “Well you need some improvement in this area”. Not knowing what their thoughts are is driving me crazy! Everyone keeps telling me not to worry so much but I just can’t help it. I won’t be able to take a sigh of relief until I’ve been promoted to raider, until then I’ll be on the edge of my seat Waiting

I’ll keep you guys posted with updates so cross your fingers for me!!! -Tar

Alas poor Frostmourne, I knew you well!

Well peoples, today’s the day. Once those servers light up and the logins are allowed I’ll be packing my bags and heading to a new realm. A brand new raiding start! The worry of finding a place to go has left me and is now replaced with a fear of stuffing up the trial period. What if I get over there, do one thing after another wrong and am back at square one? One of my biggest concerns now is letting this get in the way and keeping me from playing to my best ability. I’m not amongst friends anymore but strangers that I have to prove my worth to. I’m just a bit scared to be on my own.

For my friends reading this:
If you’re wondering why there isn’t some long sappy queue the dramatic music goodbye it’s well because there isn’t a need for one. I have my alts there and one that I am very active on every day! So this really isn’t a goodbye for us at all! I’ll still be around just not in the same form!

What it all boils down to is that I do believe this will be good for me. Change is often times a good thing, just have to take things as they come and go from there -Tar

And then depression set in….

The past few days has allowed me to realize how depressing my WoW life is at the moment. I currently have no guild to raid with. Everyday I see my friends list filled with people in ICC and to make matters worse it’s all the people I used to raid with.
Thanks to gearscore bullshit I’m looked upon as being a shit player because apparently a 5k gs means you don’t know what you’re doing. I know my gear is somewhat lacking but it’s not like scrubbish type lacking. So now here I am pugging out the best I can every week in hopes that I might find an upgrade so that when a potential new guild decides to armory, they won’t turn their nose up at me. I just feel so lost and in between at the moment.

On a good note I am happy to see that pretty much everyone has found a new place and is raiding successfully. For the most part, instead of taking a downgrade in progression everyone is on the upscale. It just makes me sad that we can’t go back to the way things were. I guess it’s just important to remember that no matter what it is in life, nothing lasts forever - Tar

Looking for a place to call home!

The search has begun! After giving it some thought I have decided that it’s best for me to go back to US based raids/times. I don’t believe I’d be happy raiding with any guild on Frostmourne. I am unable to raid with my bf, Morg, or any of the people I enjoyed playing with and the rest of the guilds seem to be good on mages. I am NOT willing to take a downgrade in progression or settle for a guild that does not strive for the best they can be. Am I looking for a 7 day a week 12hr+ World first racing guild? Honestly no I’m not. I did the 7days a week raiding back in Vanilla for Naxx and it’s not something I can see myself being able to do anymore. With the stress of trying to help hold Eidolon together no longer an issue, I am looking forward to really enjoying WoW and raiding once again. I must admit that putting in apps has me excited and a bit nervous. Have to keep my fingers crossed and not get paranoid! I’m just a tad worried guilds will base their decision mostly around my GS etc, which isn’t terribly bad it’s 5k… but decide to right me off because I’m not runnin’ around Azeroth in a 5.5k gear.

The whole GS thing has actually brought up a bit of a rant for me. For the few of you who do read you know I took a break from WoW for a short time, about 2 months to be exact. For those of you just finding your way to my postings, well now you know! The break up of Eidolon was pretty sad and I felt my WoW days were over. I was torn with feelings of guilt at the thought of going to another guild or even trying. Altho the guild was/is dead I felt as if I’d be breaking betraying my friends.
SO 2 months later I come back, just in time for ICC, and an explosion of GS requirement has hit WoW. The reason this pisses me off is firstly people posting for a 5k gs minimum to do things like Ony and OS. Come on… let’s be reasonable here people. You don’t even need that high of a GS for ICC. It’s all easily puggable. Yes I know that based on a players GS you have a good idea of where they are coming from BUT HOWEVER you don’t know if they were carried through content to get that gear or what their skill level is until grouping with them.
This brings me to the rant….
I won’t give details on who this person is or where they are from but it “really grinds my gears”. I was half pugging the random daily dungeon with a healer I had never met before. This person was from my server and asked me to come along so I said sure why not, it’ll make the queue time quicker. When we get in the instance our cross-server tank has a pretty low GS, I’m thinking it was around 4.3k. Before we even get started this healer, btw has a 5.5k score, starts ranting on about this tank and how shit he is blah blah. His entire views and opinions were based completely on this players gear-score and nothing else. Once we got started the tank was perfectly capable of playing his roll and in my opinion did a fine job of doing so. He held his own for the lack of gear he had and there were no issues at all. Now apparently for some people if you get a high enough gear-score you take a step above the level of feeling the need to tell people you have to go afk. We wiped, who’s fault was it? Mr. God’s gift to WoW… our healer. He decided to take a phone call, is apparently not capable of multi-tasking and obviously believes he doesn’t need to tell people he’s stepped away for a moment. Shortly after our second pull a random disconnect found itself my way and I was kicked offline for just a moment. Coming back on Mr. wonderful managed to let a DPS die as well. Was this a “challenging” heroic? No… it was Gun’Drak. Now based on this guys own carrying on(for the entire run by the way I forgot to mention that) he should have been able to heal ANYTHING in the game flawlessly but apparently a super easy heroic was to difficult for him.
Along with him and a couple of other people taking his side in the issue I tried to argue that you can’t base a players skill level simply on their gear-score. Obviously I had no impact on their views and stupidity because they are still running around with their hard ons for gear-score and not how capable a player is.

I am not against the idea of using a players gear to give you a good idea and in no means am I making an excuse or rooting for under geared players. Plenty of times have I met players with drool worthy gear who played like ass that had crawled out of ass and the same for players in shit terrible gear. What I am not okay with are elitist attitudes of people who are very far from elitist.  WoW is nothing like it used to be and it just seems to be getting easier compared to the old days. So get off your high horse all you’re doing is proving what an obnoxious idiot you are and that you pretty much know nothing about the game outside of the few buttons you manage to press. -Tar

Mis-informed people

meeBefore you read on in this post, I want to point out that this video looks to be a bit old. One of the other reasons I believe this video is a tad late on the haps is the preaching of how Pokemon is the devil. If it’s recently done, this guy is a little out of touch and his congregation needs to update their wardrobes Monkey 2

Pokemone = Witchcraft
Posted recently on Game Politics.

The video actually brought back some memories from my childhood. When I was little and my family was very active in the Church community, I remember my mom saying similar things to me. I remember her not wanting things like Harry Potter in our home and how Pokemon was a gateway witchcraft tool for small children to get them into Magic and then onto D&D. Of course once I started gaming outside of Mario and so on my mom felt a little different about it and remembered when her father told her how Rock and Roll was the devil’s music.

I find it amusing how this preacher talks about people who have killed others over games. It makes me wonder if he happens to own a gun. If not how about his car that got him there. Obviously by buying a car he’s supporting the idiots that drive drunk. You get my point I’m sure.

Mr Preacher, I hate to break it to you but there are idiots and crazies in every walk of life no matter what you do. We honestly need to stop pointing our fingers at the companies and the rest of the world instead of starting at home. Maybe if parents would start taking some responsibility for the people they bring into this world then we wouldn’t have as many problems… Dear gamers, please take some responsibility with your actions and or children etc. AND PLEASE, if you post responses to stuff like this on youtube… try not to make us look any worse by spamming comments with “FUCKIN RETARD” -Tar

So busy!

meeJust a quick post so don’t expect anything fancy! I’ve been pretty busy lately and haven’t had the time or the thought process to post anything. Realizing I have been neglecting the blog I finally decided to take a quick minute and just throw something up so it doesn’t look too abandoned!

Updates: As mentioned previously my boyfriend and I picked FFXI back up. Since Aion and FFXI are such huge time syncs and we’re not forced to stay on an Aussie based schedule anymore, this meaning we didn’t get to play with the Aussie’s a whole lot, we decided to go ahead and cancel Aion for the time being. Money has been a bit tight so paying for a game we’re not playing a whole lot atm is not the best choice. The main reason we enjoyed it so much is because it had a very similar feel to XI. Since we decided to go back to FF there wasn’t any room for the other.

In other news, Morg has been here for about 2 weeks now. It’s been great and a lot of fun! She’s gotten to try out all our nasty fast food and see small town USA. We haven’t taken many pics because we’re baddies but she still has a week or so left. We’ll be using that time to get her lots of camera action so she has lots of memories of corn to reflect on when she goes home. Altho there hasn’t been a lot of gaming time for myself, we have been watching owning it up with anime’s and just goofing off!

So readers or the lack there of… enjoy your gaming ! -Tar

Endless free trial? Really?

meeI’m going to assume you’re all familiar with Warhammer. When I first heard about it being in beta testing, I tried so hard to get in on that. Altho I have never had the chance to play the table top version I have played one of the RTS’s for the PC. I loved it so it was only natural to assume the same for Warhammer online. When the game finally came out, man were we all surprised after a month of playing it. That’s exactly how long the whole group of us from WoW lasted.
When things started to dye down on WoW a few months ago, Morg and I decided to re-activate to try it out again, give it one more go… that didn’t last either. I created a new character on a different server and so did she. Managing to get to level 16, I finally got bored with it again. Not to mention the game is completely dead. I’ve never seen such an empty game before. Even those few people in the community that still remain were bitching about the game. Normally in games you get people against the game and siding with it so there’s debating/player bashing going on. Not in this case. It was just straight up game bashing. Altho I shouldn’t be surprised but I was when I read this e-mail today

Mythic Entertainment

Account Change Notification

Your closed 10-DAY FREE TRIAL Account for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has been successfully converted to a new ENDLESS FREE TRIAL Account.

I actually had to read it a few times because my original thought was “why am I getting an account phishing e-mail when I haven’t played in so long?”. After going to their website and reading some reviews on other gaming sites about this, it looks like they are so desperate for players they’re now giving the game away! Have they turned into a D&D item mall type game? Nope, not yet! Everything you can do in the trial is absolutely free forever. Now, if you want to try to play the high tier in the game you’ll have to pay for a premium membership. It’s kind of sad Mythic didn’t do better. The game had such great potential! At least the upside is they gave other game developers some interesting ideas that hopefully we see executed better at some point int he future. So gamers I stress that you don’t waste your time and bandwith downloading this game! Until next time -Tar

Item mall games welcome Blizzard?

meeEven tho I am no longer playing WoW I still like to check on what’s going on from time to time. I’m sure by now you’ve all seen the two latest pets brought to the game and how to acquire them. If you haven’t then there is no hope for you my friend.

The question is, what exactly classifies a game as being an item mall game? Most of them we’re used to are “FREE TO PLAY FOREVER just pay 5 bucks an item to get anywhere in the game”. Has Blizzard gone this way? Not yet. Yes they’ve said that currently they are only going to be using this shop for cosmetic items only but honestly, in my opinion that is, it’s just a matter of time before you’ll be able to purchase special enchants and possibly even gear. Yes, the one pet is currently for charity but it’s only for a short period of time. Now if they were only offering the one pet and donating money to charity then taking the pet down after a short period of time, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. However this is not the case. It just saddens me what the game has turned it as I’ve sad many many times before. I truly am glad I quit when I did.

What are your thoughts on Blizzard new course of action? -Tar
